PRIMARY PURPOSE:To keep the District’s HVAC in such a state of operating excellence that they present as few problems or interruptions as possible to the educational program.

                                                                                              

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED, and HVAC trade school certification; able to read written instructions, understand verbal instructions, and complete written reports.

                                                  

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

 

 

Minimum Experience: 5 years’ experience in maintaining Chiller and Boiler required in a school district. Able to troubleshoot residential, commercial, or instructional HVAC repair and supervision of people in related field; Class B air-conditioning license; current Universal Refrigerant Recovery license.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:   Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making.  Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel.  Occasionally prolonged and irregular hours.

 

Ability to lift and carry 55 or more pounds without assistance; continual moderate lifting and carrying (15-55 pounds); occasional reaching above shoulder level; continuous use of fingers; continual standing and walking; frequent bending and stopping; ability to climb ladders; and frequent operation of a motor vehicle; ability to distinguish basic colors.

 

Ability to work outdoors and indoors; occasional need to work above and below ground; exposure to heat, cold and humidity; exposure to asbestos containing materials, grease and oils, solvents, and electrical energy; and exposure to machinery with moving parts.

 

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
