JOB TITLE: HIEPE Home Instructor

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Conduct home visits to parents in the Irving ISD community to implement, conduct, and role play dedicated curriculum consisting of literacy, social emotional learning, fitness, food and nutrition. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS & PROVISIONS:

  1. Position is subject to the IISD Home Instruction requirements.
  2. Academic Extension Home Instructors are required to follow the Home Visitation program implementation, weekly Role play training, and professional development requirements as directed by Coordinator
  3. Ability to work a flexible schedule
  4. Possess a valid Texas class c driver’s license and proof of insurance
  5. Must have reliable transportation

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Participate in staff development as required by the Irving Independent School District for personal and professional growth.
  2. Conducts enrollment for prospective students and returning students. 
  3. Administers assessments and screenings as required by program.
  4. Schedules appointments with assigned families and records contact information into web-based data tracking system.
  5. Organizes curriculum and supplies for each individual family assigned by administrator. 
  6. Meet with assigned Home Instruction caseload of parents on a weekly basis, in the home, campus, or in a virtual format. Home instructor will use role-play as a technique to explain curriculum, learning goals, and academic target to parents.
  7. Maintain and update Home Visitation family files and enter information on to a designated web-based data tracking system. 
  8. Participates in weekly training professional development with administrators. 
  9. Enter and update home visit, parent meeting, and field trip attendance into web-based data tracking system
  10. Participate in all regular Home Visitation sponsored activities (i.e. Field trips, End of Year Celebrations, Recruitment events, TEXAS HIPPY Kick Off), etc.
  11. Work with HIPPY/HIEPE administrators and Parent Engagement Coordinators to increase parent involvement in the campuses. 
  12. Refer appropriate families in need of information/assistance to the Coordinator/Specialist for evaluation and social services referrals as needed.
  13. Meets with Testing Facilitator & Data Analyst to analyze visit tracker reports regarding curriculum delivery, resources provided, attendance, assessment results, and home visit contact information.
  14. Conduct recruitment of appropriate families in need of information/assistance to the Home Visitation extension program as directed by the Coordinator/Specialist as needed.
  15. Assists in the supervision of children, preparation, and clean up after monthly parent meetings as assigned by administrators.
  16. Prepares and submits monthly reimbursement mileage reports.  
  17. Maintains confidentiality of information received from parents, administrators, and other campus personnel. 
  18. Performs office responsibilities and other duties as requested by administrators.

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

 

Mental Demands Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must work on multiple projects simultaneously while still meeting deadlines. Work within tight deadlines. Occasional in-district and out of district travel. Once a year out of state travel as may require HIPPY International. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Carry up to 10 LBS. 

 

Physical Demands: Frequent in-district and occasional in-state travel.  Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

 

Environment:  Frequent home visits
