PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plan, implement, and evaluate a summer program of guidance and counseling services based on the defined needs of the population served.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate Valid School Counselor Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of counseling procedures/techniques
- Knowledge of family and peer group dynamics
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with assigned grade level students preferred
- Experience in a digital environment preferred
Minimum Experience:
- Three (3) years of teaching experience
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- PLANS, IMPLEMENTS, AND EVALUATES A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM OF GUIDANCE, INCLUDING THE DELIVERY OF SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LESSONS
- 1. Uses a planning process to define needs, priorities, and program objectives.
- 2. Implements a comprehensive and balanced program.
- 3. Evaluates the effectiveness of individual activities and the over-all program in meeting desired student outcomes
- ASSISTS TEACHERS IN THE TEACHING OF GUIDANCE RELATED CURRICULUM
- Consults with the summer school facilitator and teachers regarding the needs of the students assigned to each digital classroom.
- Supports teachers in ways to embed SEL into the content
- USES ACCEPTED THEORIES AND TECHNIQUES APPROPRIATE TO SCHOOL COUNSELING.
- Uses accepted theories.
- Uses effective techniques.
- CONSULTS WITH PARENTS, TEACHERS, SUMMER SCHOOL FACILITATOR AND OTHER RELEVANT INDIVIDUALS TO ENHANCE THEIR WORK WITH STUDENTS
- Provides professional expertise collaboratively.
- Interprets information and ideas effectively.
- Advocates for students.
- ADHERES TO ETHICAL AND LEGAL STANDARDS
- Observes ethical standards of Texas and the American School Counselor Association.
- Observes relevant legal standards.

Physical demands/Environmental Factors:
Occasional prolonged and irregular hours; lifting and carrying of moderately heavy boxes of testing materials.
