PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist the classroom teacher to provide for the physical and instructional needs of students.  Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction.  Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

  1. Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
  2. Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
  3. Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
  4. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
  5. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
  6. Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
  7. Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
  8. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
  9. Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
  10. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
  11. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
  12. Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
  13. Assist students with activities of personal care which can including diapering, toileting, and/or dressing
  14. Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.
