JOB TITLE:  High School Assistant Principal Secretary                                                    

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

FUNDING SOURCE:  Local                                  

REPORTS TO:  Assistant Principal            

PAY GRADE:  Paraprofessional 040 (200 Days)                                                                                           

DEPARTMENT:  Campus                          

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:       Provide a positive, well-managed environment in the assistant principals’ office, and assist the vice-principals and assistant principal as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Education/Certification: 

 

            Special Knowledge/Skills:

 

Minimum Experience:      

 One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience or other equivalent experience or background

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Coordinate visits by students, teachers, and parents to the vice-principals’ offices
  2. Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and schedule appointments
  3. Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed
  4. Maintain proper files as required
  5. Prepare correspondence, forms, and reports as requested
  6. Maintain confidentiality of information and loyalty to the district
  7. Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions

            Computer, fax machine, copier, telephone, etc.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITIES: 

            None

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:   Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress.  Repetitive hand motions.  Prolonged use of computer.  Work with frequent interruptions.

 

Safety:  Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
