Primary Purpose:
Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
Aptitude for successful completion of tasks
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Ability to work well with others
Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
Ability to speak and read English
Bilingual Spanish, preferred
Experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Cleaning
1. Clean classrooms, restrooms, corridors, floors, cafeteria, offices, and other areas as assigned.
2. Maintain clean and neat campus grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas.
3. Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
4. Assist in maintaining a cleaning supplies and equipment inventory and request supplies as needed.
Maintenance and Repair
5. Report repairs and safety concerns to the building manager or supervisors.
6. Assist in performing preventive maintenance to ensure comfort, health, and safety for students and staff.
7. Move furniture or equipment as directed and assist in setting up facilities for special events, as needed.
Other
8. Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during or outside of normal business hours).
9. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible; and serve as a role model for staff, students, and public.
10. May be reassigned to different campuses as needed, based on the needs of the District.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety
12. Assist with opening and closing building as assigned, checking to ensure that exit doors are open and panic bolts are working properly during hours of occupancy. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
13. Inspect tools, machines and equipment for safety and efficiency, and operate according to established safety procedures. Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform duties, including lifting, and climbing. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
14. Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to hot and cold temperature and humid conditions, electrical hazards, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise and vibration; work around moving objects and vehicles, ladders, scaffolding, pallet jacks and lift equipment; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours
