JOB TITLE: ESSER HIEPE Home Instructor

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

FUNDING SOURCE: ESSER

PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 030 [176 Days]

REPORTS TO:  HIPPY Coordinator                

DEPARTMENT:  Finance, State/Federal Programs

Disclaimer: This position will provide critical support to address student learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds for this position are expected to be available up to the end of the 23-24 school year. In addition to other specified conditions of employment, the applicant understands that no guarantee of continued employment, beyond the availability of the funds, is expressed or implied by Irving Independent School District.

 

This position is eligible for a Letter of Assurance.

 

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:     The ESSER Home Instructor will conduct home visits to first and second grade parents that have been affected and continue to be affected by COVID 19; in the Irving ISD community. ESSER HIEPE Home Instructors will implement, conduct, and role play dedicated curriculum consisting of social emotional learning, parent life skills, literacy, and nutrition. 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS & PROVISIONS:

  1. The IISD Academic extension program is subject to state and school district funding, therefore under these guidelines and requirements, the prospective applicant must fulfill all professional development and Program requirements.
  2. Position is subject to the IISD Home Instruction requirements.
  3. Academic Extension Home Instructors are required to follow the Home Visitation program implementation, weekly Role play training, and professional development requirements as directed by Coordinator
  4. Possess a valid Texas class c driver’s license and proof of insurance
  5. Must have reliable transportation

Minimum Experience

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Ensure students and families impacted by economic hardships related to COVID 19 are provided with appropriate services and referrals.
  2. Participate during the weekly staff development sessions targeting social emotional learning and family instructional needs.
  3. Assist the coordinators in implementing support systems in diver modalities to overcome negative COVID 19 instructional impacts.
  4. Meet with assigned ESSER Home Instruction parent caseload on a weekly basis, in the home, office, or in a virtual format. Home instructor will use role-play as a technique to explain curriculum, learning goals, and academic target to parents that have been affected by COVID 19.
  5. Meet with coordinators on a weekly basis for training, report family progress, parent participation in the schools, and report needed resources mitigating the needs of COVID 19.
  6. Maintain and update Home Visitation family files and enter information on to a designated web-based data tracking system and input resources/progress reports regarding impacts relating to COVID 19.
  7. Enter and update home visit, parent meeting, and field trip attendance into web-based data tracking system to track the number of ESSER family participants as well as resources and needs provided to families.
  8. Participate in all regular Home Visitation sponsored activities (i.e. Field trips, End of Year celebrations, Recruitment events, TEXAS HIPPY Kick Off), etc.
  9. Assist in the preparation, supervision of children, and clean up after monthly parent meetings as assigned by the coordinators.
  10. Work with HIPPY Coordinators and Parent Involvement Coordinators to increase parent support relating to family needs to minimize the impacts of COVID 19.
  11. Refer appropriate families in need of information/assistance to the HIPPY Coordinator/Specialist for evaluation and social services referrals as needed such as social emotional, counseling, and health impacted by COVID 19.
  12. Conduct recruitment of families that have been impacted by COVID 19 who may need information/assistance related to the present situation.
  13. Assist in the office and other duties as requested by the coordinators.
