Job Responsibilities:
- Instruct all swim lesson participants in the Swim Safe program.
- Maintain a high level of safety in his/her own class.
- Work hours as scheduled which includes beginning and ending class on time; remaining after class to answer participant or teacher questions, and/or to clean up supplies.
- Instruct and evaluate students participating in the Swim Safe program.
- Submit completed progress reports, skill sheets and attendance information on time.
- Attend mandatory orientation, meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
- Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Present a professional appearance and attitude, and maintain a high standard of instruction at all times.
- All other duties as assigned and appropriate.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lesson instruction.
- Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, lifejackets, etc.
- Ability to work independently with energy and enthusiasm.
- Ability to positively interact with all types of swimmers, including those who may be fearful in the water.
- Previous aquatic experience is preferred.
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification is preferred but not required.
