Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide testing and assessment of students participating in the AEL program.  Provide targeted

instruction for the AEL classes. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education/Certification: 

-        Must have a high school diploma or GED,
-        4 year degree preferred

 Special Knowledge/Skills:

-        Proficient oral and written communications skills in English, with Spanish as a second language preferred
-        Ability to work well with adults
-        Strong English/Reading skills
-        Strong knowledge and skills of PC computer systems, Internet, and Microsoft application software
-        Ability to travel to program sites throughout the district and the community
-        Competence in working with linguistically and culturally diverse constituencies
-        Ability to deliver lessons to AEL students
-        Written and oral skills in Spanish preferred

Minimum Experience: 
   
-        One year of related experience preferred
       

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

-        Administers progress and assessment tests to students as needed
-        Provides targeted instruction to students as needed in order to accommodate scheduling conflicts
-        Registers students and walk-in students, if class seats are available
-        Attend testing and instructional staff development offerings as required by Program Manager
-        Performs other duties as required
-        Troubleshoot computer and technology issues that may arise

 None

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:   Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Safety:  Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
